The award-winning Wildlife Center of Virginia is a hospital for native Virginian wildlife. It offers healthcare to native wildlife and handles emergencies. Founded in 1982, the center has treated over 70,000 wild animals including birds, reptiles, mammals and amphibians. It has a team of dedicated vets, veterinarian technicians, conservation medicine practitioners and volunteer rehabilitators. The center also offers training programs in these areas. The Center has a diagnostics lab, vet clinic, radiology room, operating suite and administrative offices as well as outdoor facilities for the care of recovering animals. The Center also organizes education programs for children and adults across the state, through tours, field trips, programs in schools and other organizations.
